Chicago Inferno Sign Local Talent Tony Halterman
APRIL 30, 2014, CHICAGO - After a season in Washington State with the Kitsap Pumas, goalkeeper Tony Halterman has inked a deal a little closer to home: the Midwest native has signed with the Chicago Inferno.
The USL PDL team tweeted the news last Friday, April 25, stating, 'The Chicago Inferno has added Dyer, IN, native Tony Halterman (GK/D, Kitsap Pumas) to its 2014 USL PDL roster.'
While he is grateful for his time in Washington with the Pumas, Halterman is elated at the news,
and the chance to play in a city close to his Midwest roots.
'I'm excited to sign with the Inferno. It's going to be a great stepping stone for my career, especially with all of the major tryouts I have in the fall,' said Halterman. 'It'll also be nice to be closer to my family, so they can come out and see my games.'
The DePauw University alum is no novice to the game, boasting over 20 years of playing experience, including titles such as 2nd Team All - NCAC Defender and 2nd Team Great Lakes All - Region Goalkeeper.
WCM talent scout, Lorenzo Tobin, was equally excited at the news of their client's signing.
'Tony's signing with the Inferno is a great way for him to stay in shape and simultaneously put some solid stats together for his resume,' said Tobin. 'When open trials come around in the fall, he'll be in top game shape to showcase his talent in front of the world's premiere leagues.'
